The picturesque little town of Oprtalj was first mentioned in the year 1115 on a 378-meter high hill. Venice, France, Austria, and Italy have controlled it since the 19th century. This territory is now known for truffles and several lovely hiking routes through picturesque settings with woods, fields, caverns, and the valley of the river Mirna and its spring of thermal and mineral healing water.
